very cool, it will be an exciting adventure! I would recommend educating them on how to care for them, fertilizing etc., just in case they do not want to pay the overhead of maintenance. Also, it does take a lot of energy and time to maintenance all those containers so be certain you don't price yourself to low, if you have a good product and keep them looking fabulous for them, than it is a service they won't mind paying for. Don't be afraid to have more expensive baskets & containers, you'll be surprised what people will pay for containers that are big & beautiful. That being said, make sure you have some lower priced items as well for those who can't afford higher end items. Make sure you have some really cool and unique planters that aren't extremely expensive, but nice (people will appreciate looking at those things.) And I would recommend Fiber-grow baskets for downtown areas. They breathe like clay, hold the perfect amount of moisture (won't dry out like coco-moss, but drain and breathe extremely well,) and the plants just thrive in them.

I'm not an expert, but those are some things that worked for us. One last thing, we've found that by NOT doing sales, we've benefited a lot more. It would take some time to discuss the pros & cons of doing sales, and there are both pros & cons, but we have found it to be much more of a success by avoiding sales. That being said, we have done 10% off for local businesses early in the season, which is a great way to get new people in the door, but that is a lot different than end of season sales.
