Gardenia Tree

Hey everyone! I bought a Gardenia Tree for my wife last weekend for Mother's Day. We transplanted it into a larger pot with new soil literally feeling the entire pot up. After doing this however we noticed that the tree is very flimsy. The wind sways it back and forth. I put 3 other sticks in the pot and tied twine around them to the tree itself to try to reinforce it but that's not really helping much. Would anyone happen to have any suggestions on how to make the tree sturdier? We live in zone 5 so putting it in the ground isn't really an option unless I want to dig it back up before Winter, which I really want to avoid that. Hopefully someone out there has one as well and can share how they make it sturdier. Thanks everyone!
