Do all the cabinets have bead board? I think it would be too much, if that's the case.

If you did you bead board, I wouldn't have it mirror the same board in the cabinets, and would try to have it compliment rather than compete.

Do you have a wall that doesn't have cabinets? That might be a good place to have beadboard. I have a different opinion--if I used BB for the backsplash, I'd want it to match the cabinets, but if you use it just on the area between the counter and cabinets, maybe it won't matter if it matches. Are you painting either the cabinets or the BB, or both?

Can't tell if it's all the same in this one-cabinets look a little narrower, but it could be the paint that makes them look that way.

I think it's a personal choice really, but I'm also wondering if having the backsplash area painted a different color might give it more interest.

Thank you all so much for your input and pics. They were very helpful! If I did the beadboard backsplash I was going to paint it a different color than my cabinets- one of the other colors in the granite.

To answer Mimi's question: the cabinets with the beadboard are around the perimeter. They are cream colored with a chocolate brown glaze and the island is stained dark with no bead board.
