Kitchen cabinets are standard at 24" in depth. Many cabinet manufacturers can make them the depth that you want but it will require a special order and may or may not fit within your specific budget. Have you looked at vanity cabinets? Most vanity cabinets are 18" or 24" in depth and either 31-1/2" or 34-1/2" in height. Good luck on your project!

I used some vanity depth cabinets in my last kitchen and in the manufacturer's catalog, they were in with the regular base cabinets, not in with the vanities that are built as one unit freestanding vanities. They were Kraftmaid, which isn't exactly budget but isn't too expensive, and since they were made to those dimensions there was no upcharge.

Thanks for the tip I will look into that. My only dilemma would be that I want one with drawers for silverware, etc. not sure vanity would have that but I will look into the vanity cabinets.

I am in the market for the same thing and have done some research.

A google search for "18" deep base counters" produced a number of results , including a few independent companies and Sears. One thing I have seen people do is buy boxes from chains (so, for example, the Sears cabinets) and have a high end cabinet maker fit them with custom doors.

Another alternative is to buy 24" deep base cabinets and then have your contractor cut them down to 18". As I understand it, the main issue with this is that you can't use cabinets with drawers, only shelves.

Could you use upper cabinets as lower cabinets? They would not be as deep. I have the same issue and was googling this looking for solutions

I’m actually trying to go the other direction. I have some 18” base cabinets that I want to convert to 24” base cabinets. Can I just take off the back and securely add a 6” deep box?

Did anyone have any luck finding 15-18” base cabinets with drawers (without special ordering)? I am trying to do the same and I am not finding them. Here’s my potential project.

Ikea has 15" deep cabinets in their sektion lineup in various heights and widths with a number of different options for doors, shelves and drawers that should come pretty close to what you are looking to do. There are also a few companies that make doors and fronts for ikea cabinets beyond the options ikea has.
