Moved into a new, old house, built in 1928, roses appear to have been there for a while as wood at bottoms of some are tree-thick. This our third year in the home and I've been doing my best to care for them (never having had roses before) but they still get half eaten by the black spot by the end of the season :(. This is usually the first to bloom and appears the youngest and does repeat although not nearly as spectacularly as the first flush. Thought it was a peace rose but just saw one for sale at flower day at Eastern Market and peace was much paler/more yellow. Any ideas? Also any suggestion on the black spot (besides clean up the bottoms in the fall, yada yada) will post other roses in subsequent threads...
