for pickling hot peppers, how many plants....? :)

One of the major treats we love is pickled hot peppers -- we put them in salads, put them on veggie burgers, they are a must-have for falafel, and I can eat them just right out of the jar. BUT they are very expensive in the U.S (as in prohibitively). I've never grown hot peppers before because, fresh or pickled in jars, they were so inexpensive back home that it wasn't worth the garden space to grow them.

The local grocery store had hot pepper transplants on clearance sale for only 50 cents each and so I got their last four plants. Now I'm wondering if four plants will produce enough hot peppers for me to pickle. Three of the plants are "Tabasco" and the fourth is a "Hungarian hot banana." Ideally I'd like to have enough to pickle 12 pint jars worth but I'd be happy with even one pint jar. I have no idea how many peppers just 4 plants will yield or do I need to buy some more transplants and how many??

Any advice would be so appreciated!!!!!
