Put them on iron curtain rods running the entire length of the windows. You can add white shears as well. Love the fabric

First off what do you hate about them, is it the color, is it the hardware that holds them et cetera? You can always change the color of the wall behind the draperies which will give them a different look

Remove the 'cinch' and let hang straight. I think they are just fine. Love the print. They add just the right amount of texture to the room with the matching throw pillows as the sofa is so large and imposing in solid color. Don't know the 'rules' on curtain length/height, but maybe they should have been hung from the ceiling??

Yes I would hang them from iron curtain rods that run the length of the room on round rings. I would let them fall straight with out tie backs. Alternatively I would get wood rods with rings. Go to countrycurtains.com to get ideas.

They'll be fine if you let them hang straight without the tie-backs. If you still don't care for them, try the decorative rod idea.

i would add the rod. I don't like how they look "pinned" up there.
side note, you could stand to loose one pendant over the island.. 4 is a bit much.
i wouldn't put the Asian inspired chest there, it competes with all the orange/red in the room and it too short and boxy. get a light wood to break up some dark.
the black rod will help tie the fan and built ins all together.

told my hubby when he brought 4 of the pendants home that we only needed 3...I had to pick my battles and I lost ;)

its not like you were going to take them down and cut 3 new holes anyway.

the paint color is so nice. I agree with others that the way they are hung is really the only thing that is off. You may want to try hanging one "beefy" curtain rod and lose the middle panel

Your panel fabric is lovely and so is your couch. I think the problem is their width and this is only emphasized by the short rods. I think I would add a long rod and if you can purchase more fabric and then double up the panels. If you can't get additional fabric, I would remove the middle panel, cut in half and add to each side.

no, @ ninigrt, its not like she is going to do that, she would actually just take down the far right one, as the other three are already centered. then add a recessed can or cap it....
but its up now so we carry on to the curtain rod lol.

Definitely add double rods above the windows, for a fuller look, includinga neutral fabric, sheer beneath, to add depth.

Love the curtains and couch, especially now that you painted the walls. I agree the rods seem too short. I wouldn't change the drapes, I'd only get rods that are about twice as long as the current ones. The drapes are fine the width that they are, just the rods should have some empty space above the windows. Great job all around. Your home looks lovely, pulled together and very comfortable and inviting!

loved all of the advice..if I go with shears are they behind the drapes or on the same rod?

Before adding sheers, will they affect the ease of getting in and out through the sliding doors.

another solution would be to remove the center panel and treat each window individually .

Only don't have them puddle on the floor. Check Ikea out for your hardware. Theirs are affordable as well as good quality. Check them for the sheers. What I like about Ikea is they sell by the pair not by the panel as most stores do. I'm really loving your fabric choice for the drapes. Just need some minor tweaking.

As far as the island pendants go it is much better to have too much light than not enough. Consider the choice lucky!

One long rod. Sheers can be pushed to the side to use the door. I like your couch and it's color, your husband did a good job and you did a great job picking out the curtain material. I would remove the beige color pillows and pick out a green or gray (hard to tell from picture) from your curtain material for solid color pillows.

I agree with Maureen above to place the drapes on one long rod with more material. I think the sheers would be way too much in your room. Beautiful couch with the drapes and pillows!

I just realized that I put an old photo on this site. it was when the room was painted blonde....I painted the room white and the drapes looked MUCH better...I do love the idea of sheers but husband is balking...maybe next year... this was my first time on Houzz and I can't thank everyone enough for all of your help

Vicki...I did try that but the "white" pillows are actually the same color as the back ground in the drapes..I wanted more of the gray in the pattern too but it looked awful when I tried it..I was trying to lighten up the room..great minds think alike ;)

Late to the conversation--are the curtain panels only one width of fabric? I might have had them made with a width and a half of fabric to a more lush custom look. That said, they look like they just need dressed a little so that the pleats fall into place better. Skip the sheers--especially on clips.That will add an unnecessary messiness to your custom panels and just be in the way.

Personally, i like your fabric and think it's a nice fit in your room. but..i always prefer curtains and shutters that actually are sized to fit so that they can serve their function. i want to see both curtains and shutters that when closed are able cover the window near which they sit.

I prefer looking at a view through clear glass and not through sheers. I agree with longer rods. I think now that you have uncinched the drapes everything looks good as is.
