Of those choices and those alone I would take the 400 series. I would not put in Pella windows even for a discount!

Not surprised. Seems that unless you are buying their top of the line stuff, Pella seems to get a lot of negative feedback.

I have Pella windows in my home that I have been replacing a few at a time. They are awful. And when I've called Pella about the issues, they act like I am the only one in the world who has had these problems, and they say all they can do is send a service person to come look--at a service charge of $75 just to show up. If I was looking at new construction, the builder would have to pay ME to choose Pellas, and even then, I'd turn them down.

You mentioned Pella's "top of the line". You are still not getting a good window, especially compared against other window companies like Marvin.

Sorry, I don't know anything about Andersen windows. You can also try a search of this forum with terms like "Andersen A" or "Andersen 400".

Pella is tops in name recognition.....but the bottom of the barrel in terms of quality.

Where I live there are still quite some new constructions still using Pella. I feel pity for the new homeowners as Pella just undercuts price to win builder's contract. Those builders will not care what happens couple of years down the road. My house has full house of Pella Designer windows from 2000 and I have to replace them gradually due to very bad rotting and leaking.

In my opinion Anderson s a much better choice. Other brands to look at are Marvin, and Milgard if you are near west coast
