I try to choose the best frame for the art.

I will select based on art first...room is secondary as the room may change or the art may be moved, so it needs to be able to stand on its own.

Mat and frame match to the art. That's all that matters.

May and frame to the art, keeping my decor/style preferences in mind (eg. I don't choose traditional style frames).
