Several weeds in western washington~

I feel like I should know a couple of these by now but I dont. And as appealing as spending hours searching for them, you guys really seem to have a good knack for it, at least enough to get me pointed in a good direction, so here goes;

First one starts like this:

And turned into this:

There are sporadic little hairs on the leaves and stems.

These flower heads look similar to the one above but are white and leaves are different.

I know these grow much taller, I've never seen the flower because last year the deer at the tops off every single one...! The chickens seemed to really like them also but I'm scared to feed too much cause idk what it is...

These are numerous, fast growing, tall, and loved by deer.

It looks like some kind of aster/thistle, but it looked so unique ;p

Some of these are vegetables which have gone to seed. I am not convinced that 1 & 2 are the same plant although both are in the Brassica family. One looks like a turnip or similar while 2 looks like a broccoli or kale. 3 looks like Lepidium draba, Hoary Cress. 4 is a Chenopodium species probably C alba, Fat Hen. 5 could be Lapsana communis. 6 is a Lactuca species. 7 & 8 are another Brassica, maybe Sisymbrium officinale, Hedge Mustard, but I can't see many details in the pictures. 9 is a Sonchus species, Sow Thistle. You also have Brambles and Dandelions in there.

All great for chickens but not so good for gardeners.

Ah haha thanks so much! This should be helpful! We did have too many tomatos last year that have re seeded, but we didn't plant turnips, broccoli, or kale, so they must have come from someone elses garden. The really ironic thing is that those things are IN the garden!

Maybe just fence off the area and let the chickens do the work? I don't see anything but yummy 'weeds' in any of the pictures. Not to mention the poplar fluff. They might even eat that - I don't know.

It gets stuck on their beaks, I don't think they like it much, but it would be nice cause they sprout like crazy!

Also just got done looking them all up, and I gotta say you're amazing! I'm not 100% sure on the lactuca species or the last mustard type one but darn close! Thanks!

Yes - I often put kale and broccoli flowers into salads. Experiment away - none of the pictured plants will harm you - although sow thistle is bitter and older leaves are prickly .
