Donna, do you have a picture of Komoriya's flower? I didn't try any crosses with Komoriya's bulbs this year but do have some seedling crosses from last year. The only crosses I got to take was the Autumn Pink Lady.

I forgot that I did get some seedlings crossed with Autumn Pink Lady, I found her pollen worked but I wasn't successful with pods on her, but I have to say that at the time she wasn't rooted so that may have been the reason.

Here are a couple of Komoriya's pictures of their Hatsucho, see what you think. I guess it's a given that many of their pictures are darker than reality but the shape just doesn't do it for me. Of course, I'm not complaining, I love mine!! These flowers below aren't fully mature yet, the stigma is still hanging down so maybe after a few more days the shape would be more like mine.

So pretty! How big are the flowers Donna? The difference in flower color could be due to difference in temperature and sun exposure.

The two side flowers have already collapsed, hoping it's due to pollination taking! Here are a couple of pictures, I never actually remember measuring Chico, but I'd guess they're

about the same. This bulb has received no sun to speak of at all, it had been under lights until I noticed it sending up the scape and then I brought it upstairs where it sat in a well lit northwest window just receiving some very late day sun for about 3 hours at the most.. Donna

Interesting your Autumn Pink Lady didn't set pods. I used her pollen on everything I could and nothing took. She was the one with the pods. :)

I love the shape of your Hatsucho much better and it may get the better color next time.

i saw the pics of the Hatcucho in my sidebar, and had to click - amazing!!! I've never seen an amaryllis like that before . . . so pretty!

Flower size is not too bad Donna. Specially comparing to the "limited releases" of Royal Colors cybister hybrids that had such tiny blooms. I got a few seedpods from a very few Komoriya bulbs this season. These are the ones that I have had for around 2 seasons (at least) already.

dear Donna, please use pollen from Komoriya's Salmon trumphet. it works well and will give nice colors and long tube form to seedling. come back to my Autumn Pink Lady- mine bulb on first flowering didnt get seeds, on 2nd, 2td and so on produce a lot seeds and work perfect like pollen partner.her sister Autumn Rose lady never flowering yet after 3 years of nice growing, they grow together on the same shell, but APL in plastic pod- ARL in terracota pod. so, never give up. and you flowering bubs looks like a Octopussy a little bit.regards, Andrey, Moscow

Thank you all for your recent comments! Unfortunately, I didn't buy a Salmon Trumpet. I was going to try Salmon Taenia but previous tries with her pollen had failed on others so I ended up with one self, one Exotic Star and the last flower got Sonatini Lollypop, not too exciting I know but my chances are now over. Much too early to see if any of them took.

My Autumn Rose Lady will not grow leaves after over 2 years!! She has roots, plenty of them so I guess I will just have to wait a few more years;-) I just have a few leaves on my Autumn Pink Ladies and I think I will have to repot them as I have them both in the same terra cotta pot and perhaps I will use plastic this time and pot them up separately. My Komoriya bulbs seem to like plastic and of course I get the pleasure of seeing the roots grow.

I did get lucky with Deja Vu, I have one healthy seed pods growing merrily along x nelsonii also from Komoriya! Nelsonii has proven to be both a great seed parent as well as a viable pollen donor, I am really pleased with that purchase!!

Hello Donna. I seen it in my Autumn pink lady:

It have 2 blooming, in spring and autumn...I cross it for self and with other variety in the spring blooming and NOT set any seedpods...meanwhile, in the autumn blooming I try again cross it for self and other variety and oh surprise! This work very very well for the 2 ways and give me a lot of seeds!

I like your bloom better than what it was supposed to look like! I think it is much more unusual with the thinner petals and lighter color.

That's a really pretty flower, very whimsical. I never had any blooms from my Komoriya plants and 75% of them died due to never rooting and eventually rotting. I have one left that is growing well this season (finally!), sadly I lost the name tag so it will be a surprise when, or if, it blooms.

Thanks for your input about Komoriya. I was recently looking at several of their bulbs because they appeared to be on deep discount and they offer a discount on shipping for multiple bulbs. I was eyeing aulicum, among others.

With Komoriya no longer cutting the tops of the bulbs and the roots off, they grow as well as any other suppliers. i bought about 40 last spring and only lost one. The remaining bulbs are growing great and some are even putting out pups. .I would not hesitate to buy from them again and their prices on their older varieties are very good.

Thank you Maida. I appreciate the follow up comments. I do recall a campaign to end the maiming of the bulbs (I think Blanca may have initiated it). Sorry to hijack the thread by questioning whether Komoriya was a vendor to consider purchasing from!
