Can post some photos of your tree to determine which way to prune them?

Sure, here they are. First pic is both trees side by side, second and third is at positions that I would like to cut them down to at soltice.

How tall are those trees?

Most of us pruning stone fruits in an open vase form. You can take out the central leader and keep about four scaffolds evenly spread. Next year, you can bark graft more plum varieties to them for better fruits set and more varietes to taste.

Thanks! Open vase is what I would prefer. I just have not gotten the heart to take these 2 out.

Size control can be done now through Summer.I'd keep topping(heading back)the long growth,about three times,to an outward growing bud.Then,as Tony suggested,pick a few branches and thin out the others, during late Winter to early Spring. Brady

Bruce? Home Depot and Lowes sales them so they are populaur. Just a guess.
