I'm pretty sure that's Mare's Tail, for which I do not remember the latin name. Pull it up and compost it; do NOT let it go to seed, or you will be seeing more of it than you want to.

Compare with Conyza canadensis. Mares Tail is one of its common names.

Thanks both! It looks like that is probably what it is although I'm not positive. A lot of the pictures show the plant once it's flowered but not as many pictures as the initial rosette. I'm tempted to let it bolt and see but not sure my wife will allow it!

Seems it is actually an interesting plant, native to the US with a number of culinary and medicinal uses, as well as a bunch of faunal associations -- which makes me feel somewhat guilty about ripping it out!

It is also coming up through a bunch of cracks in our patio (assuming this is the same plant):
