Need kitchen help. Granite or Quartz? Cherry cabinets.

Started to wish I hadn't done cherry when looking for granite. It's so hard to find a granite that I find acceptable - my taste leans to marble and it just won't work in our kitchen My husband who cooks doesn't clean up after himself and may be cooking when I've already gone upstairs for the night . These are the granites that looked okay with the cabinets. Kind of a peachy Cielo D'oro. My concerns are that the lower half is darker. My fabricator said he can work around that but that would be an additional charge. My main issue is fear that once installed it will be too busy or too heavy or too dated looking. Our cabinets look like this

I am so worried about a shock with the granite that I'm considering Quartz. my friend has Silestone Tiberis Sand which looks good with my cabinets.

Much creamier in person.

This would be the safer choice cause I know what this looks like. Busy granites are visually distracting to me and the quartz is calm although a little boring. Will it look too modern for my cabinets? Wish I had found this site earlier. They are starting today and I don't have counters or hardware picked out!

if you wanted marble that looks like this, this is my quartz countertop, safe for anything your husband may do after hours. LG rococo.

I realize this is the opposite direction but have you considered soapstone?

you have so many options....take your cabinet door with you to a granite fabricator and look at your options. i totally agree the quartz above to a little too bland and boring.....if you are going to spend the $, make sure you love what you are getting.....would you consider a dark granite? if it's honed (a matte finish) rather than sleek and shiny you might actually like it with the cherrywood. if you have an island, consider 2 different slabs...one for counters and another for island....your options are many. go shopping!

I love the look of a strong white with cherry. Cherry darkens as it ages. The cleaner the colour you pair with it (strong white, slate blue, slate green etc) the easier it is to "live" with the newer, darker cherry colour that comes with age. For this reason I like a really strong white. As the cherry darkens the contrast gets stronger and cleaner.

Hi all, so sorry I never thanked everyone for your comments! I hadn't used houzz until recently and had my settings set so I didn't receive the posts! Here I thought you were ignoring me! Love your counter nnigrt! And miacometlady, I wish the soapstone near me had been so beautiful! Potchiemagoodleberry - I agree you must get what you love and I didn't love the granites I was seeing. Cancork floor, I decided to go light with the cherry because the cherry seemed so heavy and dark going all the way to the ceiling. And the counter made all the difference!

So thank you all for your help even though I missed it settings are correct now. I had assumed because I always got my GW messages that I'd get these. Well that's what they say about assumptions !

Just another photo to show you how warm the Tigris Sand is, in case anyone else is struggling. I couldn't be happier with our decision.

You can definitely find a nice marble looking quartz to complement your cabinets. Cambria has some of the nicest granite looking quartzes in my opinion.
