I think a pretty chandelier over the center would be nice. Ceiling cans are always good too. We put in the new low voltage cans with soft white lights and you can't tell they are not incandescent. I love them but miss the personality that a chandelier offers for some rooms. Your very beautiful room would look great either way. The cans would probably give better resale in the future and placement with your furniture done takes the placement guesswork out of the equation to keep it picture perfect.

Do both! A fabulous center light fixture would make this room even more beautiful!

Totally agree with Holly, a chandelier or center light of some sort would really add something to the room, but I would recommend adding cans as well for a really effective lighting scheme. If you go to a local lighting store you can often get good advise on design and specific fixtures from their salespeople.

Recessed cans on a dimmer switch. Use Cree's LED replacement bulbs with standard recessed housing. Fabulous. A sparkly chandelier would be the icing on the cake.

There are no tables for people to set a drink..or for lamps. Lamp light is much more inviting and cozy than overhead lights...even with dimmers. Think again.

Recessed lighting, chandelier, and low level lighting is important.

Beautiful room...can't go wrong no matter what you choose but I vote for a chandelier.

What a beautiful room! I would center a large chandelier. You can hang it lower than we have here, and choose something a bit more traditional.

I vote for chandelier and 4 down lights ( strictly for resale - if a new buyer someday doesn't go the 4 chair route.) I LOVE what you have done so far. I would suggest 2 small metal and glass accent tables between each chair set for setting down a drink. Pick a metal that complements your lamp and/or chandelier.

Look at chandeliers 23-30 inches diameter. I like the one I posted :) I think polished nickel would be perfect.

Very pretty ! I like that the shade is opaque. I like the round drum shade, it references the ottoman.

I like DeCocco's suggestion. Recessed LEDs on a dimmer plus a great chandelier. I like your example. Very nice. Just place a flat tray on the ottoman. That will stop people from saying you should add little tables between the chairs. I'm sure it will be reachable from each chair. Very nicely orchestrated & a unique choice for your lovely room.

You can quit worrying. You will love the space. Add a plant or two.
