I have mine growing in a pot in full sun. I think it's natural for plants to grow toward the sun.. I hear you can clip and replant but I just dont know how old they have to be... I'd wait until they fall over and the main stems turn yellow and cut. Then, plant some test plants closer to the fence...

You could stake them up if you don't want them flopping around. It's what I do. I always wait until the topsets are fully mature before taking them off the plant, breaking them apart, and replanting individually.

I would never put them in the refrigerator - ever. Just a cool, dry place is fine. Somewhere in the house. And topsets I just replant right away. I keep those things going just about all year long.

I've grown walking onions for years in pots. I just cut off the whole cluster of bulbs at the top of the plant once the bulbs are about the diameter of a dime. I then put the entire cluster in the ground either all together, or splitting the bulbs apart. It is rare for any of the bulbs planted this way to not grow. I agree with the idea of planting in succession over the summer. The young tender greens are quite good. My bulbs stay fine just sitting in the house for months.

Don't let them walk. Snap off the tops before they set roots, and plant them where you want.

We did replant them against the wall, and now they are walking in the direction they should go. We enjoy the greens in salads most nights. I use them all the time. I think I'll start harvesting some of the bulbs for friends to plant. Thanks so much!

If the bulbs I collected and then forgot about for over a year in a kitchen cabinet will still root and grow, I think your bulbs will be just fine clipped off and planted wherever :-)
