We're purchasing exterior storm windows/screens for our 1920s home and are looking at the Larson products, mostly for cost and convenience. We've worked hard to restore our double hung windows and the tops are functional. Our upstairs is quite high and has lots of windows, so for safety with our young kids we use the top window for ventilation.

We like the Larson gold series but were told by Larson's rep that you cannot switch the top window with the bottom screen (ie put screen on top), however I'm wondering if you can remove the top window for summer and slide the screen up. Anyone have this window? Would this work? Any other recs for storm windows direct to consumer would be appreciated. I feel like I've called everybody and can't find anyone who will respond to my RFQ or quote below $200/window.
