Commercial grade vinyl plank. It's great because it's water resistant or dog pee.

Just about anything can be slippery for older or infirm dogs. I use a lot of area and throw rugs on my tile and hardwood floors as my smaller dog slips on it, especially the hardwood. With the rugs, they do fine.

If you have hardwood everywhere else just use it there too if not luxury vinyl plank is great with dogs and looks good too but I would not mix it with real wood next to it.
