I have a ton of Rhododendron all across the front of my house. They had suffered from petal blight for a few years, but this year seem to be doing well. Except! just at the corner of the bed is one pink rhody (the others are magenta). It only has two blooms? Interestingly, just behind/next to it is an Oak Leaf Hydrangea that also only had 1 bloom (bud really, as they haven't opened yet). Also, I have lacecap hydrangeas that are closer to the magenta rhodys and the lacecaps are looking to have a banner year as they are full of buds! Wondering why the pink rhody and the Oak Leaf have done so poorly this year? Could it be deer eating the buds? Both plants are on the edge of the bed/house and we do have lots of deer...I've hung Irish Spring in years past and didn't this year? (I'm not an accomplished gardener at all (the plants were all here when we moved in 5 years ago), so I'm trying to learn as I go...Thanks!
