Could you elaborate on that slightly scary statement?

Why is that scary? Magnesium. I put about a Tbs in each hole before I placed the plant in the ground.

With all the rain you may be in the same trap that many of us are in this year - overly wet soil that causes root rot, stunting, and little to no growth. This would have been a great year for planting only in mounded beds and wide rows to get the great drainage. Unfortunately we can't know that ahead of time and it is too late now. Of course if we do that next year it will probably be very dry instead. ;(

Like you my potatoes, onions, and leafy greens are thriving but the peppers and tomatoes in the ground are just hanging on. At least the container plants are going gung-ho because they drain. So until the weather cooperates all we can do is nurse them along with low-dose, well diluted feedings, fungicide sprays, and hope.

PS: on the off chance you can improve your between rows drainage by cutting trenches it is something to consider.

Thanks, Dave! This is what I was afraid of. I'll give the trenches a try!

Also, too much rain water can wash down and dilute the nutrients.
I would feed them with water soluble ferts for fast action.
