RE: question about Wal Mart clem. They carry Mrs. N. Thompson often. You might check it out on the Hull Clematis site and see if it looks like yours. Like the deep purple with the red bar, very nice.

Marlene, if you are talking about the picture posted at 11:59 PM, according to my ID it is a Dr. Ruppel Clematis. Very pretty. It is only a couple of years old and it has started flourishing extremely well. I might end up increasing the height of the trellis. I am looking at various options without cutting back the plant drastically. FYI, I always look for some beauty to the trellis also. I re-purpose a lot of stuff to make trellis that are an art form by itself. Example is the red antique wagon wheel trellis for my Pink champagne clematis. My wife thinks that I am crazy. And she did not like the bight red color!. LOL.

There are a few more that are loaded with buds - Madame Baron Veillard, Jackmani, Saffire Indigo clematis etc. to name a few. I will post as soon as they put on the show. We had much less rain in the North east in the last two months. But I think, it was a stellar time for flowering plants and trees. Flowered profusely and they lasted much longer.

I know there are too many plants in such a small area but it would be hard/impossible to selectively remove one.

There is "Still Waters" (light blue small flowers nearer the bottom), another that you can't see from this pic is "Pillu" and some unknown darker blue/purple one higher up.

Such beautiful clematises. Here is Galore, my first clematis, planted last October.

We had a poor spring but my Westerplatte seems to be doing well.

I really like the combo fo Comtess de bouchard and Huxtable....also Asao and Blue Ice look so beautiful close up. I will be searching for these three clemis...wish me luck!

So beautiful. Mine are only 1 or 2 years old and have only very few blooms. All bought from big box stores at season end clearance so could be mislabeled.

I know some find this plant to look 'ill' due to the streaky variegation of the flower. I do think it does look better in person than from a photo as I just can't get the coloration right.

I have bet I have close to 20 clematis in our garden and by far "Tie Dye" was the most vigorous grower this past spring.

Pretty impressed with these 2nd year plants! But it seems to me they have bloomed a bit early-- they supposedly are type 3s. Warsaw Nike and Hagley Hybrid. Blooms are nearly done now, should I prune and hope for another flush in the fall? Or just let them be?

Hi Starlight, my clematis are planted on a north east facing wall, they only get morning sunlight up to 12 noon. I love your Ramona, it has a beautiful satin look.
