Groud cover along drive.

I'm looking for a ground cover along a slope on my drive. The slope is about 8 feet wide and I will be going about 100 feet down the drive. It is a south facing slope and gets full sun. It's a sandy red clay. I am in zone 6b. I would also like to plant something interspersed with the leyland cypress That were planted last year. I would assume that in time this will be a shady area but with the angle of the sun it might not be as shady as I think. This can't be a big budget project and I'm willing to wait for something to fill in the area. Hope someone has some ideas, because being such a sunny area I just don't have a clue.

One of my favorite groundcovers is Veronica prostrata. It's drought-tolerant, somewhat shade-tolerant and fairly quick at spreading. With 800 square feet of space, however, you might consider using several types of groundcovers, devoting, say, a 4- to 6-foot long section to each, so you would have different groundcovers blooming at different times. I don't know where you live, so I'm not sure exactly what grows in your area.

Thats a great looking plant...and your right, several different ground covers with interest all year would be what I'm looking for. Are there any evergreen ground covers that would work on this sunny slope? I am in the mountains of western NC.

Groundcover sedums are evergreen and there are lots of them. My favorite is 'John Creech'.

Yes, groundcover sedums are evergreen. So is Veronica prostrata. If you live in Zones 4 to 8 and have well-drained soil, V. prostrata would probably work for you. You could always try a couple of plants and see how they perform. Veronica prostrata
