bamboo towels

I just bought some bamboo towels in place of paper towels. Supposedly each towel can & be used over 100x & put in washer, not dryer. I have been using one for about a week & washed by hand 2x. I have to say they seem to work well for cleaning but I wondered if anyone else has used them. Thank you in advance.

Out of curiosity, what's the up side? How would bamboo towels (roll of 20/$8.88 from Amazon) be better, or less expensive, than using cotton bar mops (24/$8.42 from Sam's Club), recycled old towels, or rags? Cotton towels can be sanitized and bleached, can the bamboo towels? I realize bamboo is a renewable resource, but so is cotton.

I have paper towels because I have a really cute holder for them, but we only rarely use them because I have a stack of cotton and microfiber towels, and rags we use instead. A roll of paper towels will last us for years, and use them on rare occasions because they can be tossed in the trash. A house guest is more likely to use paper towels than we are.

I bring home unused paper napkins from restaurants and use them for things like a dropped egg, where the paper product could go into the trash. We've gotten an ice cream cone from McDonald's drive-thru and they've handed us as many as 20 napkins. I keep these in a nice napkin holder under the sink for clean-and-toss use.

I have to think about your question a bit. The up side to me is that they are very easy to wash, (in a small bowl w/hot water, Dawn & a bit of bleach) & they dry very quickly. They are naturally anti bacterial, (although how long that lasts w/washing & bleaching is up in the air), & so far have done an amazing job of cleaning up anything & I just rinse them out again. I say "them" but I'm still using the same one I started w/from the roll. I too have a stack of microfiber cloths for cleaning, polishing, drying dishes, etc. I don't go to restaurants enough to collect paper napkins. I had been using Bounty paper towels & reusing them as well but let's face it they don't last as long. I do collect my microfibers used from polishing & drying dishes since they can't have fabric softener. It takes me about a month to gather enough for a load. I guess I just like them & I am very easily swayed when it comes to buying things. lol

FYI: I am still using the 1st & only bamboo sheet from the roll & it still works great! I rinse out after use & about 2-3x a week soak in hot water & a few drops of bleach. Comes out perfectly clean every time. The bamboo sheets seem to have more strength than paper towels & really clean my glass top stove, all my countertops, etc. I really love them so far. I have only used about 4-6 paper towels since 5/28 & am still using the same bamboo cloth which does a great job. I'm pretty happy with them so far. I haven't even tried dusting, polishing, etc.

Another fyi: I am still using the 1st towel which I started using 5/29. Every time I use it, I just drop it into a glass bowl w/a couple of drops of bleach. It cleans far better than paper towels & certainly lasts a last longer. If it is still doing a bang up job cleaning after 2 mnths, I'm happy. I know I could use old towels, etc but then they have to go into the washer, dryer, etc. This is just much easier. Use it, drop in glass bowl w/bleach & comes out nice & clean.
