It's a Rosa rugosa as far as I know. The deer and elk have been nibbling at it since the picture was taken.
I'm not much of a rose person, but I do like the blue leaves on this one.

Check out Rosa glauca. The foliage color and growth pattern look right. It's grown largely for its foliage.

And off topic, but I always enjoy looking at Mike's photos as well. Just gorgeous!

If you put hooks on the shed or garage wall and make a point of always hanging your rakes on them when you are done you won't be missing them anymore.

Good point, a rake rack! I have several different types, leaf, road, and landscape rake.
Somebody should start a thread on garden tools we use.

You're right, Mist rakes. I could I have missed that? Have you ever seen a mist rake? They're too big to fit on a rack. We're talkin' mist here. Besides, only use those in the winter. That's when the mist is the heaviest.

Here's a picture taken last June. There's a red rhododendron behind it. Could be 'Rocket'.

I think Rosa glauca looks better from a distance.
