I love the jungle dialogue! Also Bilabong's clone sure has an interesting caudex! It looks like her roots have been tied in a knot! Very cool booms I might add as well. This will definitely be a fun thread to watch. Thanks to Kadie for the idea.

My mom and aunt were at a huge plant show in Florida some months back that had an Adenium vendor with some really nice larger plants. They texted me and asked if I wanted them to pick me up one while they were there. Needless the say the answer was YES of course. I will be driving to Florida in about 5 weeks for a visit with my parents where I will be picking this beauty to start my outdoor Adenium garden! I cannot wait to see what is under the soil.

Woo hoo! Arabicum (shada)? Tracy, bet you can hardly wait to finally get your plant after months had gone by. Oh, and of course it's always great to visit mom and the kinfolk.

You know the caudex does resemble an arabicum doesn't it? I was told that this is an Adenium obesum but we know how things can get easily mislabeled. I suppose it will be easier to tell once I have it out of the soil. Of course I will post some images when that time arrives.

The backdrop of your adenium garden is pretty and lush with a variety of plants. Tell me if I'm wrong: I see nasturtium, alyssum, petunias, and some others I recognize but can't name. Oh, and you have a huge collection of rhododendrums or azaleas somewhere?

You are correct Kadie. There are Impatients, Crocosmia - 'Lucifer', Hemerocallis (daylilies).

Yes, We have about 90 Rhododendrons on the property and all growing together now. Some are about 12' - 14' high now. Last ones will finish late June.

Funny, I love our garden, but my attention is drawn to the tropical fauna that I see in Hawaii when we go there. I find it sometimes odd, how we are drawn to or possibly take for granted what we have in our own back yard. Sorta speak. Atleast I do on occasion.

I totally agree, Rick. I myself take for granted what I see around me every day. When I am in the CONUS (Continental United States), I am fascinated with all the local flora, and many of those cannot be grown here.

I would like to add that rhododendrons and azaleas are particular favorites of mine over there. They are magnificent when in bloom.

Rick, even though this is an adenium forum, please, would you upload pictures of your plants in flower. I do miss them!

Edited: Oops! Partner, is this okay with you? After all, some plants that are not adeniums could be backgrounds of our adenium gardens.

Niccce! A peacock is certainly several steps up from a pink flamingo. I'm not sure yet whether I will have a wild pig boar, a monitor lizard, or something slightly less intimidating like puppy Chihuahuas in my garden.

Hoping these buds will turn out to be doubles--they have chubby bud forms.

My turn. Here's my main family. Not in their glory due to winter starting but still my pride and joy. Our winter doesn't last long but it's been a bit up and down and confusing some of my plants. A few have lost all their leaves but others are blooming with new shoots. I'm lucky I don't have to put them inside.

Rick, can I come live in your garden? The Trillium Chloropetalums rubra are fantastic! They look like they are from the jungle. The peacock is definitely a nice finishing touch.

Kadie, have the newest blooms of mystery opened? The Dorset Horn! Please don’t introduce me to another lovable caudiciform, I will have to search to the ends of the earth to find one.

Yes, Chris, your mini-garden was an inspiration for the creation of this thread. And you keep your garden so nice, neat and clean. Everyone of your plants are unique and seem to have been carefully chosen and well taken care of. You can come to my home anytime--maybe I'll have several mini-gardens that you could create: obesums here, arabicums there, somalense at the other side. Ha-ha! I have only obesums right now, but I hope arabicums and others will eventually be added to my collection.

Tropical adenium garden

So nice this whole thread! I haven't been around these parts nearly enough recently. I only have a few small babies currently (seeds planted march 2015), now shoehorned onto a shelf under plenty of t5ho and other light for the winter. will post pics soon.

Stuart, yes you can :) You're doing some interesting stuff with the roots in some of those pictures - tell us more!

Just experiments. I see what the farmers are doing in Thailand on youtube en facebook. Now i am in bed. Tomorrow i will post more pics with the computer.

Also a lot of interesting stuff on this forum and helpfull people.

Here are 4 and 5 months old adeniums in the smaller pots.

I sown 12 seeds from the seedpod and 8 seedlings survive from the plant with the seedpod.

I hope that a few will have the same characteristics.
