Start with the bedding. Choose the wall color from the bedding.

I like those open desks with x or crisscross legs but you need to choose your bedding and take your style cues from that. What is your budget? What style do you like? You could shop thrift or antique stores also. Also I'd suggest a rug and curtains, roman shades, or bamboo blinds.

I would look for a second hand vanity and paint it white and change the handles if you have to. It can then double as a desk, but also as a dressing table, which will look much nicer in your room. Place under window and add a rod fairly close to the ceiling right across the window and add drapery. Select your bedding and coordinate your drapery, pillows, art and layer bedding for a nicer look. Look at pics on Houzz for inspiration, as only you know your favorite colors and style, etc. Type in Beige Headboards and you'll see lots of ideas for color schemes, furniture and styles, etc. Good luck - you really have an open slate from which to start but you have to decide on the look you want.
