Did you fertilize it with a high nitrogen fertilizer? Is it showing lush growth (foliage)?

It was a balanced 10-10-10. Perhaps it was too much. Any ideas on what to do, or is it too late for this year?

How is your bush looking now? Is it healthy or in decline? Where are you located? Do you mulch it? How often do you water? Does it get enough sun? THere are 4 reasons I know off that peonies don't bloom: 1. eyes too deep, 2. not enough sun, 3. root rot, 4. not enough chilling hours.

Mantu, if your peony is at or close to it's full size you won't get any more buds this year, sorry. The buds form pretty early in the growth phase on peonies. I wouldn't think that a 10-10-10 fertilizer would do anything negative to bloom formation, anyway. Did you have a much warmer winter than normal? Or much wetter than normal? Those 2 things would cause 4 and 3 from Karen's post above.

The plant is really healthy looking, apart from not having buds. The tubers are just below the surface, as they have been for the other years when they had a lot of huge blooms. I have been watering frequently as we have had a much drier and hotter spring than usual in CT (the winter was unusually brutally cold with way more snow than usual).

Do you have bud blast? THe buds form but they don't come to maturity and flower but intstead they wilt and die? I have a peony this year that did not bloom for me eventhough it gave me some flowers last year. I had it planted at the edge of a raised bed where it did not get enough moisture and all of the buds got blasted early.
