Ooh! Can't wait to see the pictures!

I've never shared an album since the Houzz changeover so I will try this. I have placed the images in a Photobucket public album. I hope it works!

Or just do a new post, hit the link button, type in the name of the link in the first line and the web address of your album in the second line.

Claire, thanks. The Rhododendrons certainly are at peak! But although they steal the show right now, there are so many other plants growing about, around and poking through everywhere, that I have to wonder how it changes with the seasons. I really liked the Meconopsis! I tried to grow one, and it didn't make it. But to my credit(?) the plant, which I bought online, didn't arrive in the best of health and the supplier was not very cooperative about a replacement.

The Meconopsis is a wonderful plant and I've always wished I could grow one, but I know I can't. The Sakonnet Garden site says about Meconopsis :

I was there this morning, for the second year. Great to see it from one year to another, and to see it a little later in the season this year, with all the rhodies (including strongly bubblegum scented Asian ones) and azaleas at their peak. Some really thought provoking arrangements by color, and amazing numbers of trilliums. Bill, did you see the Cypripediums?

Nekobus, yes I did see some Cypripediums but they had not opened fully. There were some other small terrestrial orchids nearby the cyps, some brown/tan and some pinkish, and they were beautiful. I'm not sure, but they may be Epicatis, native to the western US. There is a photo of the pink ones in my album (linked earlier in this thread). but here is the individual photo:

Beautiful photos, Bill. Thanks for linking your album. They do have one heck of a batch of interesting plants. How long did it take you to wander through the garden? I would imagine one could spend quite some time there discovering many special plants.

Thyme2dig, I spent about three hours in all. I took a lot of photos which took a little extra time, and I took the time to look at all the variety of plants. There are so many little items tucked in here and there. Many people were remarking about the plants and wanted to know what some of them were. If I knew, I'd offer the info, and so would some other folks in turn, etc. A nice experience for sure.

Thanks, Bill. That's good info for a future visit planning around travel time, etc. That really looks like a must-see garden. Wish they had a couple extra open weekends.

Thyme, I agree that it would be nice to have more open days each year. I don't know if it's budget thing or maybe just so much maintenance for a small staff. But it's definitely worth the wait and the entrance fee. By the way, it's cash only, and there were also some vendors there, local ones. I bought a new ice plant with an pale orange/salmon flower.
