They like it as much as we do I guess. [g] I was surprised to see they ate marigolds we just planted. I don't usually use marigolds but ... oh well. I've resigned myself that I'm going to need to use a spray to keep the rabbits from destroying my garden. I do note things they don't eat and I try to grow more of those, but there are just too many things they will eat to keep allowing them to keep doing it. We have a fence around the back but they dig under it. I have some wire around a few new small trees that kept those from being chewed, and I'll have to do more of that.

Thanks -- I guess so but never before. They are ravenous this year. I have put little wire cages around a bunch of annuals--cages, which I despise. I'm hoping the plants will grow enough so that a little chewing won't show. Then I will remove the cages.

I need to cage my basil to have any hope of having some left to put on my pizza. No idea how you've escaped the revenous beasts in the past.

No kidding -- as I said they are ravenous this year. We have never needed to protect them and we do have rabbits. There used to be a neighbor cat that spooked them and I think kept them moving. Cat's gone - rabbits aplenty. Hmm. will have to try on my pizza--if any left!!

One suggestion is to grow some things higher off the ground. I've done that the past couple of years as a stop gap measure until I can do something better. I bought a raised bed on legs for some herbs and I have large 22" pots that I have put some plants that I wanted unmolested for the summer at least. You might try that with your basil. Better looking then wire around everything. :-)
