North America's highest temperature ever recorded is 134 degrees Fahrenheit (Death Valley, California, 1913.)

Now they think even hotter weather next week. It won't make 100 today, complete cloud coverage but the humidity is climbing

It's good to be back in SE PA where the temps are in the low to mid-70s today and mostly overcast. After the hot, hot trip to the PNW, this feels great. While I was gone the tomatoes went wild. I checked before I left and some of my plants were still little enough that I didn't stake them. Just spent the last hour staking those up because they were sprawling all over the place. The one hot, hot day here last week was followed by storms and rain. It must have been good for them. I also picked two almost ripe black krims, but they were one of the WOW plants so they're ahead of most of my toms.

Forecast get revised... Our average high for the next 15 days will be 91F.
And average lows 58F . An almost 33 degs.. separating highs and lows.
This happens because of low humidity and clear skies at nights. As a result there is negligible temperature build up in the soil ... a plus for plants root system.
So The bottom lime : We are OK up here and the things , though not normal, are still favorable as long as tomato and pepper growing is concerned.

Actually, almost half of Washington state is “pink.”

The last few days I saw temperatures 100’+ in California, Oregon,
Nevada and Arizona.

TODAY... I see 100’+ in a few neibor states: Montana, Utah, and
as far as… Oklahoma.

What’s next ?

NE WA has very hot summers and it is not a surprise.
Back in the NW WA we have a lot of surprises and record breaking temps. Yesterday (june 27 ) broke a record ..95++. Today it was 88F in my location (Redmond). tomorrow will be the same. So at least no danger of blossom drop there.
But come Thursday, forecast call for 97F. TOOO hot for comfort.
We will see highs in 90s for the foreseeable future, sunny, no rain.

YES, our highs are running 15-20 degrees above average. For the next 15 days our highs should average 91F. But amazingly our night lows will stay under 60F. So in reality the range is 60 to 90, averaging about 75. Or, 12 out of 24 hours temperature are 60 to 75F. The highs ( 88 ++) last about 5 hours..
So really, it is not as bad as it sounds.
In my situation, it is perfect tomato weather, considering that my tomatoes get about 4 hours of direct sun.

WEATHER : You can talk about all you want.....that is all you can do ...hehe

Going out to water right now before it gets too warm. The sun hits my tomatoes around 11:00

I'll water after 4pm, when they are in shade. Mine also start getting sun from about 11:30am. Some varieties, like cherries always wilt (that is the new growth) no matter if they are watered or not. But perk up when shaded later.

I never depended on rain unless it came down more than 2" in 24 hours. Half inch of rain hardly moisten the mulch and the top 1 inch.of soil.

Weather Update: Currently at ~ 12 noon it s 78F. It is supposed to climb up to 88F
