Get rid of the tub it will be very hard to match to other components and it will for sure hamper design decisions.

If this is the only tub in the house I would replace with a tub / shower combo there are many really attractive ones out there so you can either tile the walls or get one that is complete depending on style and budget Maax makkes great retro fit tub/ showers with a system that eliminates caulking in between pieces and looks like one piece when installed, I have used them a few times for clients and they love them
