Not sure if your question is safety or theft related or both. I can only assume the basis of the owners' decision, but it probably included some of the following thought process: (1) 2,000 acre private working ranch with little or no access to the guns by people at safety risk; (2) same reason as #1 relative to theft potential - little or no theft on a secured ranch of this size; (3) the family has been in the ranching and hunting business their entire lives and each member is carefully and thoughtfully trained and is extremely well versed in gun safety which began at the earliest of ages; (4) there are no small children living in the home; (5) the guns could be locked in place via chain apparatus running side by side within the cabinetry and through the trigger guards of each gun (just as you would see in a gun shop); (6) more than likely the guns have trigger locks on each individual gun (also as you might see in a gun shop), and: (7) when they travel or have guests or children in the house the guns can be locked in the main separate gun vault if they so choose.

This particular group of guns is more than likely left accessible for quick access to ward off attacks by varmints intending to kill or maim the livestock, poultry, household pets or the Whitetail deer fawns that the family raises and protects after they've been abandoned or lost or separated from their mothers in the field.
