My peonies are planted in a grass area. It is a constant struggle to keep the Bermuda and other grass away from my peonies. I would like to mulch them but the mulch would make them deeper than the 1 to 2" deep they are supposed to be. I am wondering if I can mulch good after bloom and then in fall when grass and peonies go dormant then remove the mulch. That would leave them at the correct depth during winter and till bloom.
