I actually do love the light you have picked out. It's a little more modern, but not too modern for your house. I also think that the colors WILL look great together.

i agree that it would cast a great light! I think the black looks a little to hmmm I guess masculine or hard looking (don't know how to explain it)

I also like the light you chose. You might also look at lights that are rectangular with another shape. Stick with the color you have chosen, an antique bronze. Perhaps it's just the photo, but the garage door looks a bit blue; I'm not a fan of emphasizing garage doors so I would repaint with a color to blend with the stucco. Here's another light idea:

I think the metals would look better matched. The cylindrical fixture is transitional enough and will not throw things off should you decide to go with it. Move your recycling bin- you don't want to highlight that!
As for other suggestions, I guess I'd say if you're going to upgrade in bits and pieces, have an end vision in mind so you can feel more certain in your decisions. Thus far choices for this home seem traditional- Colonial doors, lanterns, navy blue, but that's no reason to restrict yourself if you want to bring it in another direction.
