Anyone, anyone? Is this thing on?

Thank you so much. They are red maples I bet. They bloom dark red in the spring very early and turn firey red in the fall. The bottoms of the leaves are also significantly lighter and a different texture. Red maple almost definitely in that case, right?

From what you've said so far, that definitely fits the characteristics of a red maple.

So should these red maples be pruned? We are getting close to that time here in PA and they feel kind of top-heavy. Or are they strong enough to just let them go?

WHy do you suggest prunning? Now is a good time, but from the photos they look good. Trees are not like shrubs, you should only prune if there is some good reason to prune, like cross brances, or broken branches, or they interfer with power lines.
