i like a full panel storm door with a solid latch, you can let the front door stand open when you want the light and close it when you want the privacy. i think sidelights that have to be covered are silly. go for a wider door without sidelights that has a good chunk of glass at the top that doesnt need to be covered.

if you dont want a glass storm over your door, then go with just high sidelights.

A door with frosted glass could help with allowing natural light in and prevent others from seeing inside.

Our front door is 2/3 glass but all the glass is bevelled and etched and frosted into a pleasing pattern and lets in light but distorts everyting else to just shapes and not details.
