Where to put uppers? Over range or over sideboard?

We're redoing our 1949 galley kitchen. Keeping the galley layout but stealing garage space to make a mudroom area and eating nook. Where should we have uppers on the stove side of the room? (Note, all uppers will go to the ceiling even though it doesn't look that way. Also we'll have a 36" cooktop and 36" hood. 30" oven below it. Speed oven in the tall cabinet to the left.) If the type is too small, the whole space is 26' x 8.5'.

I vote both locations. Storage is good.

True! Storage IS good! It might feel a bit closed in with uppers everywhere though....not sure.

If you're not too sure, I'd just do the uppers by the stove. That way, when you sit at the table, it will feel more spacious and perhaps a place to hang pretty art to look at from the banquette.

I like having the open space over the sideboard too, since you have the closet and doorway next to it.

gah i voted the third choice while trying to look at it.

they are very different kinds of storage. you need to decide what you need before what looks good. do you want your oil and vinegar to go above the stove instead of sitting out? do you need open display space and plate storage over the sideboard? and if you dont need either, skip both!
