A well layed out kitchen is what you want size is not as big an issue if the space functions very well. If this is a new build get a good kitchen designer from the start do not depend on the builder to decide your kitchen. It is your job to know what you want from the space and convey that to KD . I have done some amazing kitchens in small spaces. I like stools at the counter for eating snacks, breakfast and we use our DR for other meals .
