You should try to avoid painting brand new cabinets. Are they installed yet? Do you have pictures?

Oh dear well they are in storage while we're bldg, and I don't have an actual pic however I am attaching a pic of a room with same color cabinets. They are formal and dark and with the galaxy black granite counters I thought they'd suck in the light from the room even with tall ceilings lots of windows on water side since we do get quite a rainy season on the West Coast. Also my house is a shed roof contemporary style with cedar b&b exterior and Doug Fir timbers inside to hold up ceiling and Fir open three or four" thick shelving to go on either side of the gas fireplace. They've never been used for anything other than display having all lots of extras but before we picked a house style since it was such a good deal for a complete kitchen with higher end SS appl's. Is there a reason not to chalk paint brand new cabinets if they are too dark? Thank you very much for your help:)
