I planted this azalea back in March, and the past week or so it has progressively developed yellowish leaves towards the base of the stems. The leaves used to be a deep and uniform green.

I have attached a picture of the plant, along with a closeup of the yellow leaves.

What could the problem be? We have just entered winter, is it normal for azaleas to do this?
