Nice! Ours has a few figs also. It's the second year for figs, so I expect them to taste better.

I'm jealous. My HC is growing well but no signs of figs, just a lot of growth.

Try breaking off the the bud to force branching and fig growth.

I will start clipping end bud in late June.

A few weeks ago I pinched mine after the 5th leaf and noticed a bunch of new growth. Unfortunately that growth was new leaves and no fruit.

How many ripening days do HC need? Leaf drop here is mid october. I feel like if they don't pop soon they'll never have time to ripen

OMG peak42! My Verte is getting decimated by a critter. I couldn't figure out what critter was taking branches. I now know. Tree is a little too big to cover, but I may put some poison peanuts out there............

Rat snap traps with peanut butter/crunchy will get rid of your squirrels with out poisoning fox, coyote, birds of pray, wolverines, and etc. It works really well for me. One snap and they never come back. The traps are not powerful enough to kill them and the squirrels don't won't suffer from poisoning. They will smart for a week or 2.

speedter1 - I pruned mine and it grew a whole bunch of new leaves too. But now it grows about 1 fig per leave. I"m going to wait til the fruits grow bigger then snip off the old leaves too, to give the fruits more nutritions. Good luck, hoepfully yours will pop out soon.
