I wonder if it will remain "boggy" during dry years? If it is consistently wet year to year (not just this particularly wet one) some things that instantly spring to my novice mind are Siberian, Japanese and blueflag iris, a number of sedges, and prairie cordgrass. Course, these would all probably prefer a full 6 hours of sun, not sure how much "some" is. And of course, you could always plant cattails ;) !

Skybird gave me an info sheet for wet/boggy sites, if you ask nicely, she may pass it on to you as well lol!

Yeah, I could email you the Word document with the list Zach is talking about, but much of that same list is included in the post I did on this '12 thread, and it has more info about invasive and some other stuff. Check out my long post about halfway down and see if you can find something there you like! I really love Siberian Iris for a "sometimes wet" spot--and it will do well with "normal" watering too!

Be sure to check out the "needs to be kept wet enough" info for "normally shade plants" that would probably do ok IF they're kept wet enough ALL the time! How well the shade plants would do depends entirely on "how much sun" and "how wet" it will stay--or you're willing to keep it!

ALSO, the Iris pseudoacorus has since been put on the Colorado Noxious Weed WATCH list--not on the actual Noxious Weed list yet!

Edited to add: P.S., Zach! The Panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal' mentioned in that thread is a grass I was planning to recommend to you on one of your threads where you said you had a Panicum and wondered about other varieties! I LOVE the 'Heavy Metal'! Steely blue foliage! And it "can" turn red/reddish in fall with (just) the right temp/water conditions! Sorry I didn't get back to your original thread about this, but I know you'll see it here!!!

I love, LOVE my Siberian iris. I also planted northern blueflag this year under one of our downspouts. It's new and didn't bloom, so the jury is still out on how much I like it yet. I really like the Rocky Mountain/ western blueflag iris that I saw en masse out in the Grand Mesa National Forest last year, so, I'm hoping it's substitute is as good once it finally puts out flowers.

Skybird brings up the I. pseudoacorus issue and I think it's a good point. While it's not yet deemed to be "invasive" I would err on the side of caution, especially since I recently saw some growing "wild" (outside the realm of human interference). Too bad it IS a beautiful flower, but, that what people though about toadflax, houndstounge, and leafy spurge as well. That is, if you can even find a place that would sell a plant on the noxious list, "watch" or otherwise (I would avoid said place anyways, personally)
