HELP PLEASE! Will this be okay?

I'm stressed out. Cabinets are set to be installed first thing Monday morning. Rough electrical already done and flooring in. We will have a sink base cabinet under the window with the dishwasher (Miele Futura Dimension G5675 SC Vi) adjacent to it. We're also planning a garbage disposal.

I just realized there's no outlet where the sink base cabinet will be. There's an outlet to the right and left of it, but not directly behind it.

This is an exterior wall made of brick, and it's an old home so the plaster is directly on the brick. I know the electrician was attempting to install outlets with minimal disruption to the brick structure.

Is this ok? I know you can hardwire the dishwasher and garbage disposal, but is that true when the electrical supply isn't coming from the sink base cabinet?

I'm waiting to hear back from my contractor, but I need some advice!

Pardon the poor picture. The floors were drying so I had to snap the picture from the bathroom. The outlet is to the left of the plumbing below the window (and there's one to the right as well).

Miele dishwashers are plugged from the factory. I don't know what the recommendation is for hardwiring them. For the dishwasher, take a look at the miele installation instructions but I think your outlet position is fine. Which garbage disposal are you using? I would take a look at the specs. If it is the insinkerator, you have to buy the plug separately and I think the unit is 6ft long so as long as you can get to an outlet within six feet, you should be fine.

    Good luck!

@homepro01 - thank you for taking the time to answer. I looked on the installation instructions for both the Miele and garbage disposal (Insinkerator Evolution Compact), and both allow for hardwiring, but I don't know if they're allowed to be hardwired behind the dishwasher rather than in the sink base cabinet. Since the outlet is right behind the dishwasher, I worry about the dishwasher sitting out too far in the cabinet instead of flush with it if we try to plug things into it. I haven't heard back from my GC yet. So stressful!

@beth09 - thank you! The floors are red oak that we put in to try to match the original hardwoods. There's at least one good thing about this reno so far!

I think your contractor will have to answer the question because most likely it depends on what the code is where you live.

Even if the electrical is wrong, it's nothing that can't be easily fixed after the cabinets are in. No more panic, please.

Thanks! Panic may have been a better word than stress. :) My contractor basically said the same thing. Glad to know that you think the same thing, Joseph!

mdIn - thank you! The floors have turned out great so far, and we're just hoping the rest of the kitchen does, too!
