What Causes this Damage?

My orchids are outside. What is causing this damage to the leaves?

If the plant is a Phalaenopsis and you have it outside unprotected in summer it will be frazzled by the UV. You need sunlight filtered by heavy layers of Shade-cloth.

Oh yeah, it is under a gazebo in shade with a touch or early am sun. I have many Phalenopsis and none of the others have this. To me, it looks like a pest insect's damage.

Where do you live??? You need to provide some background information. Impossible to know with knowing how you are growing the plant and where you are growing it. At least provide the zone but the Country, State will be best.

San Diego, CA zone 10b with temperatures averaging around 75F. Sorry I should have included this information.

Looks like claw marks. Are there squirrels or birds around them?

Spray some neem oil or pesticide on the leaves.
