I would like to keep a potted nepenthes outside year round with my other potted plants. I live in zone 9b in northern California, inland. It would be my first major attempt at carnivorous plants, aside from a failed Lowe's attempt. I would be buying a full grown, established, and hardy variety of Nepenthes online and shipped potted from Southern California (shipping distance is short, transit time only 2 days).

**I will be watering with a hose using non-sterile water. Our local municipal water is some of the cleanest in the country, in fact the ph is 6.7 (I dont even have to dechlorinate this water before performing water changes on my fish tanks). I have done some reading and most seem to say that tap water is, at minimum, OK for nepenthes, with them being one of the more tolerant carnivores out there.

Our historic relative humidity ranges from a low of 18% (August, only a few days) to a high of 95% (January), with an average total humidity of 62%.

as far as freezing goes, 3rd/4th week of December. That's all the freeze we get. 26-29 degrees for one night, that's the worst night. The rest are 30-33 degrees at night. (NOTE: I can cover the nepenthes at night with frost blankets and netting, bring them in the garage, if necessary)

Summer heat, we get a few days of triple digits, but mostly upper 80's. Nights always above 50 degrees.
