Garlic seed sprouting?

Hi all,
Well, my container garlic attempt was a bust. I think it was just too cold this winter...

Anyway, last summer for some reason I had an extra curly garlic scape that I didn't use and it bloomed, the flowers looked nice so I kept it around, and the other day discovered it was still sitting around in the kitchen. Looks like little tiny garlic cloves, and one of them had spouted! it's been sitting in the kitchen, no natural light, no water, no soil.

Question: can I do anything with these. If I plant them, could they sprout, even if I just get green garlic? i've put the sprouted one in a little bit of water to see if it will put down roots. Should I stick it and the others in dirt and see what happens?

I read about starting garlic from seed, but I don't know about seed spontaneously sprouting like this.

I'm going to plant garlic cloves in the fall (in the ground with proper cover this time), so if nothing comes of this possible experiment, that's ok.

Thanks!
