Oh wow, I hadn't even thought that I might get it to fruit so early. It's only about 3 ft tall after all. That would certainly be nice, but I'd almost prefer it to grow a year or two before it does that. I guess we'll see.

Your tree will be fine. What variety is it? It sure is hot here in Southern California. I used to live in the low desert 4 hours from you, and we had the same hot temps. 113 degrees there yesterday! We moved to higher ground in the foothills of a mountain resort, and it was only 98 degrees here yesterday.
Some varieties don't do so well in extreme heat, but I think it's just because your tree is young. You could try shading it with an umbrella or something. That may help.

Yup, summer has finally hit hard! I'm sure on the variety unfortunately, I bought if from a nursey here (Harpers if anyone is familiar) last year and it wasn't tagged for variety. Since I bought it here I can't imagine it would be a heat sensitive variety.

It does get shade in the late afternoon, I'll have to see exactly what time it starts getting shade later today.

Oh and it is in the ground.

I would recommend to let it soak up the sun but if its that hot you should be watering it every morning. Figs like to drink and get sunlight simultaneously.

Like the newlandscape said, you could feed it a balanced fertilizer to help it along. Or create a ring of manure about an inch away from the trunk, then mulch on top, this will have great results. in any case it sounds like its doing just fine.

Update: got some fertilizer from Moon Valley and have been giving it a nice soak every other day and it's doing great, lots of new growth!
