i went with fluorescent, and for partly that reason. very downmarket i know, but they work great and were $700 less than the leds.

I'm also on the market for these lights with a quartz counter top. i visited an electrical showroom and my choices are led tape or hardwired fixture by kichler. i don't like the reflection of the lights as well but the led tape also sells this track/channel that diffuses the light. may be worth re-considering....good luck!

Thx. It seems that the LED tape light will not give me enough "lumens"/watts for the brightness I will need. So, will go with very thin 1 1/2" led light that has a diffuser.

This is the down side of under cabinet lighting. The lamps will reflect on any natural stone surface with a polished finish. Not sure if they reflect off honed surfaces. You will notice it at first, but trust me after a while it all just fades into background noise so to speak. It will still reflect, but you won't notice it.

I have had both Halogen (burn out quickly and hard to change out lamps) and LED ( which I have now and love.)
