What happened to the previous dry cleaners and tailors?

A town of 3,000 in a county of 8,000 doesn't sound big enough to create TONS of business.

The last one retired and no one took his place. He was always busy. There is one seamstress in town who I know of. She is on the verge of retiring and is also quite busy.

Well, take "TONS" of business as you like. You obviously wouldn't have as much business as you would if you were the only dry cleaner in a city of 100,000. It's just an opportunity. I would expect that any person with the slightest bit of interest would thoroughly investigate the opportunity before pulling up stakes and moving to Kingman. At least that would be the smart business thing to do. I have a friend in town who thinks a dry cleaner and tailor shop wouldn't be that successful because not enough people wear suits anymore. Like I said, if you are interested you would definitely want to use some demographic exploration before making a decision, as you would anywhere you may have aspirations of starting a business at.

A profitable business would have been *sold,* thus providing additional income to the retiree. Being busy isn't the same as being profitable. I live in a town that size, and I doubt a town of 3000 could support a dry cleaner.
