Interior Doors?

Hi,

I'd like to have 2 panel squared interior doors with the panels inset (not raised). This seems to be a very popular look right now, I didn't think it would be that tough to find. However, builder's supply house prefers Masonite doors, and they will not have this type of door available until end of year/early next year apparently (way too late for us). Some of the other door lines the supplier carries also don't have them available per my rep. They can't be that difficult to source, I feel like I've seen a lot of photos using them.

Anyone have these doors and happen to know the brand I can have the supplier source and price check?

Thank you!

Michelle, thank you! I thought I saw them on Jeldwen site, but supplier said he checked with them. I'll dig into it further, thanks!

    There's these:

and last year when I was shopping for doors, Masonite had those ones that you want but they were solid core all wood and were more expensive. I don't remember the price but it was high enough for me to say nope. We ended up with the three panel craftsman type from Craftmaster called Crossmore. They only offered that one and the five panel in the flat stile and rail type.

Yea, they should have what you need at a big box store if you cant find it at your current store. Might have it in stock but could be a special order.

Thanks for the link jdez! That's what I think the problem is - they are actually available, but at a high enough price point due to being wood that the supplier is telling me they can't get them bc they are only looking at composite doors. As you said, likely enough of an uncharge I won't spring for it and will just stick with the raised 2 panel. I will definitely check out the Simpson product. I can find them in 3 panel and 5 panel, but I'd really like the 2 panel. Go figure. : )

MDF Doors are definitely available, look at Bolection (by Masonite now), TruStile, SupaDoor, and I am sure there are others as that style is nothing unusual. But for him to say they are not available (species being different not with standing) is just wrong, you may not want to pay for an upgraded door but that decision should be up to you not up to him to say they are not available.

I agree millworkman. I was told the same thing by my local building supply rep and I went to a specialty door/window store an hour away and ordered what I wanted at the same or better price than the big box stores. If he/she won't get it for you, there is someone out there who will.

We're getting the same 2 panel door from Simpson...they took about a month to come in and that's our entire order which had a few custom dutch doors as well. You should definitely check them out (although we did order all wood).

Thanks everyone, I will check these out. That is exactly what has happened - the building supply place doesn't want to show anything that isn't within the range of what they already quoted to the builder. I can understand how this can easily get them in trouble with the builders and budget. However, I'm WELL aware of where we are at in the budget, and we have saved significantly in other areas so I'm willing to spend a little more here possibly, but I have to get them to source and price them before I can decide. : ) Thanks for the help!

In general, I am surprised that you could not find such a door design in your stores. I believe that it is very common design and you can get it quite easily, but you probably just had bad luck. A very interesting choice of design, but I prefer modern interior door design because in my opinion it looks very fresh and nice. All the doors in my house are of modern design because it fits into the design of our apartment. We bought doors from https://doordesignlab.com and were quite satisfied at the end. They helped us find the right door sizes and colors. In general, we had been planning to do this for quite some time and I was very glad when we still managed to replace all the doors with newer ones.
